About NPRN
Nonprofit Resource Network (NPRN) of Santa Barbara County serves as the digital hub for Santa Barbara County’s social sector. The network supports information sharing of key resources, trainings, event opportunities, job openings, and more. NPRN provides resources to strengthen the capacity of Santa Barbara county organizations, and deepens relationships within the sector encouraging cross-organizational collaboration by surfacing and connecting organizations, businesses, foundation, individuals, agencies and consultants in a centralized and efficient way.
About the Role
The Nonprofit Resource Network (NPRN) is seeking a dynamic, strategic, part-time Community Director to lead the ongoing growth, coordination, and impact of an online community of nonprofit professionals across Santa Barbara County. This leadership role is ideal for a community-driven professional with a strong background in nonprofit engagement, program coordination, digital communications, and collaborative leadership.
As NPRN’s sole staff lead (with web developer support), the Community Director will oversee the full scope of NPRN operations—including programming, communications, platform oversight, partnership coordination, and strategic planning—while working closely with the Steering Committee and key community stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Leadership & Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for NPRN, representing the platform’s mission and values in the community.
- Provide strategic leadership and coordination in collaboration with the NPRN Steering Committee.
- Attend and coordinate monthly Steering Committee and quarterly Advisory Committee meetings; maintain meeting notes, track action items, and ensure timely follow-ups.
- Act as a thought partner in developing NPRN’s long-term vision and strategy.
Programming
- Coordinate ~4 annual Development Professionals Roundtable Team (DPRT) convenings, including scheduling, communications, and facilitation support.
- Maintain regular communication with DPRT Co-Chairs; support their coordination needs and assist with recruitment of new Co-Chairs.
- Coordinate ~4 annual Executive Director Roundtable Team (EDRT) convenings, including scheduling, communications, and facilitation support.
- Plan and execute ~4 capacity-building webinars each year, including facilitator outreach, topic development, and promotional support.
- Develop and lead new convening and engagement opportunities aligned with NPRN’s evolving goals.
- Develop and distribute all program communications and related materials.
Communications & Community Engagement
- Produce and distribute the weekly NPRN e-newsletter, the monthly Good Newser email (dependent upon user submissions), and social media content.
- Manage and maintain email lists, ensuring contacts are accurately segmented and up to date for effective outreach.
- Lead digital campaigns annually to expand NPRN’s visibility, increase feature engagement, and grow the user base (e.g., surveys,focus groups, platform feature promo, new user outreach).
- Provide basic user support and serve as liaison for communications with Steering Committee, Co-Chairs, and community partners.
- Create visual collateral for NPRN programs and campaigns, including email graphics, flyers, and one-pagers.
Website & Platform Management
- Monitor and update key website pages; track technical issues and coordinate with web developer for larger fixes.
- Provide responsive technical support and troubleshooting for NPRN platform users, ensuring a smooth user experience.
- Create and maintain NPRN website content—including registration and program pages, event listings, directories, and resource hubs—to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and engaging.
Reporting & Evaluation
- Monitor website and email engagement metrics; prepare quarterly reports for Advisory Committee for continuous improvement and inform future strategy/programming.
- Create post-campaign summaries and recommendations based on analytics and outcomes.
- Share quarterly and year-end evaluation reports with the Advisory Committee.
- Report out annually to the Foundation Roundtable and develop a year-end presentation summarizing project performance, outcomes, and key insights.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in nonprofit leadership, community engagement, and digital communications.
- Knowledge of the Santa Barbara County nonprofit sector.
- Proficiency with tools such as Zoom, Mailchimp, Canva, Google Workspace, and basic website platforms (e.g., WordPress).
- Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience using tools like Asana or basic task management software is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate in a virtual team environment.
Hours & Compensation
- Part-time, contract position (up to 50 hours per month)
- Estimated pay rate: $90-$100/hour ($54,000 – $60,000 annual)
