There are two full-time positions available, both with full benefits and starting out at $19.00 per hour. Positions open in Santa Maria and Lompoc.
The Mental Health Caseworker is responsible for rehabilitation and case management services through the Mental Wellness component with Children’s Services program including development of a mental health care plan that will optimize a child’s capacity for success in the classroom, home environment and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Works under the direction of the Program Manager and clinical direction of the Mental Health Practitioner in the delivery of services, in the provision of early mental health intervention for children.
- Provides rehabilitation services in the form of skill building and education for parents regarding developmental norms of children.
- Conducts home visits as needed.
- Provides in-home rehabilitation services in the form of skill building and education for parents regarding developmental norms of children.
- Manages/tracks referrals and follow-up.
- Conducts parent training sessions and support group for families.
- Assists with linkages and partnerships with local social service providers to facilitate resources and referral assistance according to care plan.
- Work collaboratively with Agency staff, and acts as a resource as needed to support the care plan goals/ milestones.
- Functions as a successful member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Assists with transportation when needed to support the care plan goals/milestones.
Education and/or Experience
Level I: Associate’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Human Development or other behavior sciences field and one year of experience in a social services settingsuch as working directly with children, families and young adults, or in a case management, mental health or family services agency and two years of experience in a social services setting such as working directly with children, families and young adults, or in a case management, mental health or family services agency.
Level II: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Human Services, Human Development or other behavior sciences field and one year of experience in a social service setting such as working directly with children, families and young adults, or in a case management, mental health or family services agency.
Computer Skills: To perform this position successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software and develop an understanding of specialized database applications.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current valid California Driver’s License with ability to qualify for coverage under Agency insurance plan.
Other Qualifications: Some out-of-office travel is required routinely within region. May travel within County about 10% of the time. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance requirements. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Provide verification of State required vaccines upon hire for: Influenza (from August 1 to December 1), Pertussis, and Measles. Acceptable verifications include immunization record and physician statement. Exceptions to vaccinations: Flu can be waived by completing annual waiver.
