The Marketing and Events Coordinator will play a key role in supporting Friendship Center’s fundraising, event management, and marketing efforts. This position involves cultivating and stewarding relationships with donors, managing fundraising campaigns and events, and overseeing marketing and communication activities to promote awareness of Friendship Center’s impactful work. The ideal candidate will have a passion for philanthropy and community engagement, experience working in the Santa Barbara non-profit sector, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The Marketing and Events Coordinator will contribute to the growth and success of Friendship Center by securing financial support, building partnerships, and enhancing the organization’s visibility and reputation in the community.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Event Management:
    • Plan, schedule, and execute all Friendship Center events, including fundraisers, donor cultivation events, open houses, and outreach events.
    • Develop comprehensive event plans, timelines, and budgets, ensuring all elements are coordinated and executed on schedule and within budget constraints.
    • Write sponsorship and grant proposals for events.
    • Participate in outreach events as directed.
    • Coordinate all event logistics, marketing, social media, and PR operations.
    • Create signage and physical materials needed for event
    • Create and execute pre- and post-event communications plans.
    • Organize and motivate volunteers.
    • Assist with logistics of auxiliary fundraising events.
    • Control inventory of marketing materials and prepare financial reports.
  • Marketing & Communications
    • Develop written correspondence, fliers, letters, and graphic materials.
    • Create branding for individual projects.
    • Demonstrated creativity in conceptualizing marketing collateral such as flyers, social media posts, and digital communications to engage target audiences effectively.
    • Guide marketing efforts from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring seamless execution of campaigns across various platforms.
    • Seek unique marketing opportunities, partnerships, and cross-promotions.
    • Cultivate relationships with community members and stakeholders to gather impactful stories and testimonials.
    • Maintain good relations with local media partners.
    • Prepare and distribute press releases.
    • Prepare and edit fundraising materials, event collateral, and marketing materials.
    • Coordinate appeal letters, thank-you letters, and agency correspondence.
  • Donor Stewardship & Administration
    • Identify, cultivate, and solicit individual donors for major gifts.
    • Manage and develop initiatives, appeals, and campaigns targeting new donors and stewarding existing ones.
    • Draft fundraising campaign language and manage campaigns.
    • Create pitch letters and sponsorship packages for partners and sponsors.
    • Develop and execute a donor stewardship process to connect donors to Friendship Center’s mission and foster community.
    • Assist in developing creative, mission-centric fundraising messaging.
    • Develop strategic partnerships with corporations and businesses in the local area, including events.
    • Represent the organization when the Executive Director is unavailable to strategically grow the community of humanities stakeholders.
    • Prepare written and verbal proposals, concept materials, endowment and planned giving agreements, and other materials needed to secure major gifts.

SALARY: $65,000-$75,000 DOE
