Executive Director
Location: Lompoc, CA (with oversight of satellite office in Santa Maria)
Starting Salary: $85,000 annually: negotiable based on candidate’s experience
Position Overview:
North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center (NCRCPC) is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to provide visionary leadership and foster a positive, collaborative environment with staff, volunteers, the Board of Directors, and the broader community.
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and day-to-day operations of the Center. This includes ensuring high-quality direct services for survivors, advancing education and prevention programs, securing sustainable funding, and maintaining strong governance and fiscal integrity.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the chief spokesperson for the organization and represents the Center at community meetings, conferences, hearings, and with media as appropriate.
Organizational Mission:
The mission of the North County Rape Crisis and Child Protection Center is to reduce the incidence of and vulnerability to sexual assault, human trafficking, and child abuse by providing education and prevention skills to community children and adults, and to alleviate the trauma experienced by survivors of these crimes through comprehensive direct services.
Key Responsibilities:
The Executive Director operates under the general direction of the Board of Directors, with primary responsibilities in the following areas:
Organizational Leadership & Operations
• Oversee all day-to-day operations of the Center, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.
• Provide leadership and supervision to a team of 9 employees and all volunteers.
• Ensure the provision of high-quality direct services and community education programs through ongoing program evaluation and improvement.
• Complete volunteer/advocate training upon hire and ensure ongoing staff training and supervision.
Human Resources:
• Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
• Foster a positive, trauma-informed, and collaborative workplace culture.
• Ensure compliance with personnel policies and applicable labor laws.
Finance & Planning:
• Develop and recommend the annual operating budget for Board approval.
• Translate organizational goals into realistic budgets and identify funding sources to support each initiative.
• Manage organizational resources within approved budget guidelines.
• Ensure strong internal controls and fiscal accountability.
• Oversee the timely and accurate completion of monthly and annual financial and program reports required by the Board and County, State, and Federal agencies.
Fundraising & Community Relations:
• Lead and support fundraising efforts, including grants, events, individual giving, and donor cultivation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, funders, and stakeholders.
• Oversee marketing, outreach, and public education efforts to advance the Center’s mission and visibility.
Board Relations & Governance:
• Serve as staff to the Board of Directors and all Board committees.
• Partner with the Board on strategic planning, policy development, and organizational sustainability.
• Ensure compliance with all government and funder requirements, maintaining official records in accordance with state and federal law.
Advocacy & Representation:
• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Center.
• Represent the organization at meetings, conventions, conferences, hearings, and media engagements as appropriate.
• Participate in community, county, and regional collaborations addressing sexual violence, child abuse, and human trafficking.
• Possible on-call advocacy required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in nonprofit management strongly desired.
• Proven skills in program development, planning, and implementation.
• Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising and grant writing.
• Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues related to sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking.
• Strong communication skills, including writing, public speaking, active listening, and conflict resolution/mediation.
• Ability to work closely with and motivate staff and volunteers.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to make independent decisions and manage time effectively.
• Experience in crisis intervention and client services.
Work Environment:
The Center operates two offices in northern Santa Barbara County, with the principal office located in Lompoc and a satellite office in Santa Maria. The Executive Director is expected to provide leadership and oversight across both locations.
Compensation:
Salaried position; base salary DOE; Generous stipend, CalSAVERS Retirement, Paid Sick, Vacation and Holiday
