Full-time, hourly non-exempt. We are looking to hire, as soon as possible, an experienced CenCal Billing Specialist to join our agency to aid in organizing patient fees and collecting payment from CenCal. The position is new to the agency and funding source (CalAim), so the incumbent will be assisting with developing the materials and implementing the protocols outlined by the contract. The CenCal Billing specialist will be a key piece in our continued efforts to provide holistic human services to our clientele.
The position is in-person, housed in our South County Office. There is the potential for occasional local travel between our North and South County offices, to trainings and/or other requirements as needed.
The CenCal Biling Specialist will be housed under Program Services at New Beginnings and will initially report to the Executive Director and/or Homeless Services Director while CalAIm is being implemented and eventually TBD based on program implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:
- Complete and submit accurate claims to CenCal
- Perform posting charges.
- Submit billing data to CenCal.
- Process all CenCal claims for program services and clinic.
- Resolve denial instances.
- Achieve maximum reimbursement for services provided.
- Conduct billing audits.
- Maintain accurate tracking and documentation for reimbursement, grant, and in-house reporting.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Conduct duties in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma required. An associate degree or higher in a health-related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certified Professional Biller, Certified Professional Coder and Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist strongly preferred.
- Experience in medical billing or any coding industry required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Must have documented verifiable experience with entering claims and authorizations into the CenCal portal. Experience entering into the CalAim system is preferred.
- Proficient in electronic medical records.
- Basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Great customer service skills, including interpersonal conversation, patience, and empathy.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Basic math, bookkeeping and accounting skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Adheres to laws regarding confidentiality; maintains knowledge of current HIPAA certification standards.
Additional Information:
Work hours are Monday – Friday, 9-5 although there will be some nighttime and weekend hours on occasion to attend community events or attend to administrative needs. The salary range for this position is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour (D.O.E.) with medical and dental provided, 403b contribution and matching, as well as generous paid time off. The position begins asap!
