About Veggie Rescue
Veggie Rescue is the only nonprofit in Santa Barbara County that rescues and delivers surplus produce, free of charge, in our refrigerated trucks, and within 24 hours to nonprofits serving food-insecure individuals. Since 2010, we have rescued and delivered millions of pounds of fresh food, reducing waste while nourishing thousands of residents.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated Advancement Manager to strengthen fundraising, marketing, and community engagement efforts. This is a part-time position (15-20 hours/week) to start, with the potential to expand to full-time as the organization grows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, an excellent communicator, and passionate about reducing food waste and addressing hunger. This position is mostly remote, with periodic meetings at our Santa Ynez office, and travel throughout Santa Barbara County to attend meetings, events, and trainings required. Resumes due by October 17, 2025, for primary consideration.
Key Responsibilities
  • Write and submit grant proposals and reports.
  • Maintain donor database; generate acknowledgments and thank-you letters.
  • Support social media content and campaigns.
  • Assist with fundraising events, donor gatherings, and community outreach.
  • Represent Veggie Rescue at community events and with partners.
  • Help coordinate volunteers and occasionally assist with gleaning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational needs.
Qualifications
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and social media.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be passionate about reducing food waste and hunger.
  • Preferred: college degree, bilingual English/Spanish, database/event experience.
Compensation
  • $30–$37.50 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Part-time (15-20 hours per week), with opportunity to grow into full-time.
