The Carpinteria Valley Historical Society and Museum of History will launch its new lecture series, Talk & Talkback, on Sept. 30 with a presentation of Moment of Truth: Separating Fact from Fiction in a Misinformation Age at the museum, 956 Maple Ave. in downtown Carpinteria. The presentation, given by museum board of trustee Amy Marie Orozco will begin at 5 p.m.

Moment of Truth: Separating Fact from Fiction in a Misinformation Age looks at the state of media, from AI to social media to election politics, where it’s tough to know what to believe online anymore. Created by Central Coast journalists and truth crusaders Starshine Roshell, Lisa Osborn, and Orozco with funding by the Association of Women in Communications Advancement Fund and fiscally sponsored by the Santa Barbara Foundation, Moment of Truth offers practical tips and easy-to-follow advice to help all of us become savvy, responsible media consumers. The talk will include some of history’s memorable misinformation moments.

This event is free for museum members and $10 at the door for non-members. For more information email info@carpinteriahistoricalmuseum.org.
