DANA’s Monthly  Sunday Speaker Colleen Beck Presents Who counted as Family? What godparenting meant for the Danas.

Colleen Beck will present her research on the Dana couple as godparents in the “compadrazgo” institution of Catholic sponsorship.

For William G. Dana, a foreigner, participation in compadrazgo linked him to existing family networks, enhanced his business and interpersonal connections, and furthered his acculturation into Californio community.

Admission is $8 for Adults, $3 for children, and free for DANA members.

The DANA Cultural Center is open daily from 11 am -3 pm. The Dana Adobe is open for tours from 11 am – 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
