PSHH Appoints New Chief Real Estate Development Officer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Central Coast CA, July 1, 2021 – Veronica Zimmerman Garcia has been promoted to the newly created position of  Chief Real Estate Development Officer (CREDO) for People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH).

“Veronica was the clear choice for this new position,” said CEO and President Ken Trigueiro, “She brings a high level of development and organizational experience, as well as a passion to serve Central Coast communities where there is a significant unmet need for affordable housing. Veronica shares my vision and commitment to community-based development that is responsive to community needs and her record demonstrates that she is exceptionally qualified to lead the organization on this path.”

As the CREDO, Veronica will oversee all real estate development activities for PSHH, including Acquisitions and Business Development, Multifamily Housing Development, and Homeownership. Prior to her appointment, Veronica served as the PSHH Director of Acquisitions and Business Development where she successfully secured over $15 million for a 122-room motel conversion, one of three State Homekey funded projects in the Central Coast region. Prior to PSHH, Veronica oversaw and or managed the development of over 800 units to completion, located primarily on the Central Coast. She has previously developed affordable housing for Wakeland Housing, the Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation, and AMCAL Multi-Housing Inc. 

Beyond housing, she has also developed community-led neighborhood improvement projects for the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative, and more recently secured the first AHSC award in the Central Coast of over $18 million for housing, transit and active transportation investments in Ventura. In addition to her development experience, Veronica brings a background and acumen for organizational development, community partnerships and collaboration, housing advocacy and policy. She is committed to advancing housing opportunity that would otherwise be out of reach particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged communities. Apart from serving on the board of the California Coalition for Rural Housing (CCRH), she serves her community as a Ventura County Planning Commissioner for the 5th District. Ms. Garcia completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California Los Angeles and is an alumna of the CORO fellowship in public affairs.
