Position Title:             Stage Crew (Up To 3 Positions Available)

Department:               Artistic Operations

Employment Period: Monday, June 6 through Monday, August 8, 2022


Position Description

The Stage Crew is responsible for the day-to-day production needs of the Music Academy’s summer festival.  Duties include stage managing events in Hahn Hall, Lehmann Hall, and Weinman Hall, as well as providing support for events held in off-campus venues.  The stage crew report to the Manager of Production and Technology and work closely with Music Academy administration, faculty, guest artists, and fellows.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with the Manager of Production and Technology to prepare Music Academy’s Miraflores campus for the start of the summer festival
  • Work as stage manager or stage crew for events on the Miraflores campus
  • Work with the Percussion Manager to move percussion instruments for rehearsals and performances
  • Act as stage crew for events at off-site venues
  • Operate basic live sound and video equipment during Music Academy events
  • Operate basic lighting equipment during Music Academy events
  • Serve as additional production staff for other Music Academy projects

Assist the Artistic Operations department with other duties

Note that the Music Academy looks to fill up to three Stage Crew positions. Responsibilities will be assigned based on the strengths and experience of the selected candidates.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate some, if not all, of the following:

  • Knowledge of classical music production
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to read music
  • Experience with theatre audio and lighting
  • Experience with ArtsVision
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong critical thinking, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on a team and adapt to changing work priorities
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Previous summer festival experience

Additional Requirements

  • Some nights and weekends, including concert duty.
  • Frequent travel between Music Academy’s Miraflores campus and off-site venues
  • All administration, faculty, and fellows on campus must provide proof of COVID vaccination


Compensation and Benefits

This is a seasonal, non-exempt, full-time position. Compensation is $16-18 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience. Seasonal employees are not eligible for Music Academy benefits. Housing and meals are included during the employment period.
