Santa Barbara Alliance for Community Transformation (SB ACT)

In order for SB ACT to achieve its ambitious mission as a rapidly-growing small nonprofit, a dynamic and detail-oriented bookkeeper is required. The bookkeeper will help to maintain SB ACT’s financial records, provide financial reporting for key meetings, events, and filing during the fiscal year, and manage SB ACT’s payroll.


  • 5 hrs/wk
  • Managing SB ACT’s Quickbooks Online records, recording transactions, importing donation records, and more
  • Generating financial reports as needed (for example, simple financial reports for semi-monthly board meetings, complex financial breakdowns for annual tax filings and financial reviews)
  • Running and maintaining SB ACT’s online payroll (Quickbooks Payroll)
  • Recording non-automated donations in Keela (online donor database)
  • Assisting with emergent one-time accounting projects as needed (e.g., convert accounting from cash to accrual basis, prepare financial statements for grant applications, etc.)

Skills & Competencies

  • Must have excellent computer skills and willingness to upgrade computer skills as needed
  • Knowledge of nonprofit community-based programs and services preferred
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting preferred


  • Minimum 2 years experience in bookkeeping or related field
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online preferred
