Position Summary

The Marketing + Communications Associate plays an integral role in advancing MOXI’s mission. This individual will contribute to existing marketing programs and assist with new initiatives aligned with the museum’s goals. The ideal candidate will have some prior experience working with digital marketing and developing social media content and/or communications/advertising/branding. The marketing associate must be an organized multitasker, able to handle many diverse projects, and have a keen eye for detail.

We are looking for 20-25 hours per week. This position will be temporary, (June – Dec 2022) and available for hybrid work 2 days per week.

Responsibilities

1. Maintenance of the brand content calendar and content across all digital channels, adhering to MOXI’s marketing guidelines

  • Maintaining website content updates
  • Social media account management, including editorial calendar suggestions
  • Trip Advisor/Yelp/Google My Business account management and monitoring

2. Creating content and maintaining marketing and promotional materials and communications efforts (print and electronic), including social media

  • Creation of simple marketing assets including social media graphics and editable template items
  • Manage one-off sign requests or reprints frequently requested by MOXI staff

3. Maintaining and updating on-site museum signage

  • Responsible for physically updating on-site signage including wall/mirror decals, managing inventory of signage and marketing rack cards at the front desk, and rolling signs throughout the museum.

4. Managing inventory of museum marketing materials and printed collateral.

  • Maintaining a directory and inventory of sponsorship, membership, and marketing support materials, ensuring all resources are current and accurate, and coordinating the creation of new materials as needed.
  • Coordination of business cards and name badge orders.
  • Managing and fulfilling internal and external production-related requests (scanning, sending out logos to vendors, etc.).

5. Coordinating email campaigns and communications

  • Able to input e-newsletter content, update contact lists, and keep up with the schedule.

6. Assisting with communications outreach and planning

  • Assist with press release creation and management of MOXI press page.
  • Media coverage monitoring and archiving.
  • Monitoring and responding to media requests and department email.

7. Support the marketing team for programs and campaigns as they arise.

Required Skills and Abilities

· Up to six months of proven experience as a Marketing Associate/Assistant/Content Creator, or similar role.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills: must be receptive to the ideas of others and able to work cooperatively to prioritize tasks and accommodate many different and conflicting concerns.

· Passion for creating a world-class museum that is recognized as a truly outstanding educational experience.

· Enthusiasm for working in an organization where change is frequent, structure is evolving, and flexibility, teamwork, and good humor are absolute necessities.

· Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new systems and adapt with emerging technologies.

· Fluency in social media platforms, including planning and tracking software.

· Familiarity with CMS including or similar to: Wordpress, Constant Contact/MailChimp, Canva, etc.

· Knowledge of traditional and digital marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing.

· Understanding of design principles and ability to align basic production design principles with brand guidelines.

· Awareness of issues relating to access and inclusion and the ability to build an inclusive and accessible visitor experience.

· Basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite a plus.

· Spanish fluency a plus.

Previous Experience Required

· Past work experience in a marketing or communications setting (i.e., social media content creator, or similar role)

· BA in English, Communications or Marketing or equivalent experience

Essential Functions

  • This position requires the ability to work hybrid, both on and off location.
  • Applicants must be highly organized and prompt, able to work with multiple technologies, troubleshoot and problem-solve, and communicate effectively and courteously with a variety of people verbally and in writing.
  • Applicant must be able to bend, squat, lift push/pull up to 40 lbs.
  • Schedule and availability reflect that the organization is a 7-day a week operation, with frequent early morning, evening, and weekend programs.
  • Regular predictable attendance is required.

Compensation $18 – $21 per hour.
