James Hutchinson, a skilled accounting professional whose lengthy career has encompassed a range of positions in the business and nonprofit sectors, has been appointed chief financial officer for the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara. His appointment was effective February 3.
Mr. Hutchinson completed his undergraduate studies at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, before earning an accounting certification through UC Santa Barbara’s Extension program. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, where his responsibilities included analysis and reporting in addition to oversight of the organization’s finances and business office staff. Mr. Hutchinson began his accounting career at Deloitte & Touche in San Jose, and later joined the staff at MacFarlane, Faletti & Co. in Santa Barbara, where he performed and supervised audits, among other duties. He went on to become a senior accountant at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art before being named CFO in 2007. His early professional experience included stints in software sales and as a loan officer and credit analyst.
“Given his strong track record in the areas of financial administration and systems implementation, we are very confident James is the right person for this position and our organization. We are pleased to have him on our team,” said Scholarship Foundation Board Chair Christie Glanville.
