Girls Rock Santa Barbara
For Immediate Release: July 28, 2019
Girls Rock Santa Barbara (GRSB) is proud of our more than eight-year track record of empowering local girls and women through music, arts education, mentorship, and community building in Santa Barbara County. GRSB is committed to serving local youth, and it is with this commitment in mind that we are making a strategic decision to expand our programming in North Santa Barbara County via community partnerships, including Blue Sky in New Cuyama, Lompoc YMCA, and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
Our board and leadership team feel strongly that our most impactful and life-changing programs are our week-long camps and workshops. As such, it is our goal to facilitate these camps with more frequency, focusing on historically underserved communities. In order for this important, mission-driven shift to take place we will be redirecting our organizational resources from after-school programming to a focus on running year-round camps and summer camps. We will continue to actively serve South Santa Barbara County youth with our summer camp programs, focused one week programs, and weekend workshops. As we make this transition, we will continue to support local youth and their families interested in after-school programming, by providing music lessons via our partnership with the Santa Barbara Public Library or referring them to other music organizations in our community.
“ We are very excited about this change! North County is a part of our community that we have been eager to serve. Equitable access to the arts is incredibly important and we feel that GRSB can play an important role in beginning to close the gap that currently exists. “ (Jen Baron, Executive Director GRSB)

SUPPORT GIRLS WHO WANT TO ROCK OUT
GRSB is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit serving thousands of girls ages 5–18 in Santa Barbara County. It is also the largest Girls Rock program in the world. GRSB is heavily dependent on foundation and corporate grants and individual donations. Our policy of “no girl left behind,” drives our commitment to serve all girls, regardless of how much they can afford to pay for our programs. Historically, more than 50% of the girls we serve receive financial aid. Please help us empower more local girls and young women and build a positive youth culture in our community by donating today at www.girlsrocksb.org/donate.
