Fiesta is a time of dance, music, parades, celebration, and cascarones. If you have attended Fiesta, you’ve probably had a cascarone smashed on your head! Cascarones are hollowed out eggs filled with colorful confetti. Although they are pretty, many cascarones contain glitter, glues, dyed paper, and Mylar- a type of plastic. Once it’s released on the ground, cascarone confetti can migrate to our waterways and become marine debris.
Art From Scrap is holding an Ocean Friendly Cascarones Workshop on Saturday, July 28th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Guest Artist Judy Nilsen will teach attendees how to dye egg shells with vegetable dyes and make biodegradable confetti out of leaves, petals, and other compostable materials.
Tickets are available online at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ocean-friendly-cascarones-tickets-48042837420
The cost is $8.00 per person and $12.00 per pair of tickets.
This is a family friendly workshop and open to all ages.
