Funds for Nonprofits Affected by Thomas Fire/Mudslide, imminent deadline

As you may already know, the Disaster Recovery Process is underway for the Thomas Fire and the mudslides in Montecito and the surrounding areas. A Major Presidential Declaration has been declared and both of the aforementioned events have been folded into a single declaration (FEMA 43530-DR-CA).

Certain Nonprofit Organizations (PNPs) may be eligible for state and federal assistance under the Public Assistance (or PA) program. The State Private Nonprofit Organizations Assistance Program allows certain eligible Private Nonprofits (PNP) or an Intermediary PNP applicant to receive state assistance for extraordinary costs incurred while providing assistance at the request of local agencies during a state disaster event.

The deadline to submit a “request for Public Assistance (or RPA)” application is January 30, 2018. If you have any questions about how to complete and submit an RPA, or of you are unsure if you are an eligible applicant, please contact CalOES at (916) 845-8200 or via email at DisasterRecovery@caloes.ca.gov and/or attend the Applicant Briefing (info listed below).

In addition, an Applicant Briefing will be held on January 22, 2018 in Ventura and via Webinar. This briefing will provide information on the application procedures, cost eligibility, documentation requirements, payment processing, and deadlines specific to the federal Public Assistance Program. Potential PA applicants are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the Applicants’ Briefing.
