Real Cost Measure 2018
October 15, 2018 @ 2:00 pm$20.00
The Real Cost Measure (RCM) 2018 – According to the United Ways of California, 41,171 families (37%) in Santa Barbara County live below what it takes (the Real Cost Measure) to pay for household basics in our countywide communities. Unlike the Federal Poverty Level, which bases household costs primarily on food, the RCM estimates the income required to meet basic needs for a given household in a specific community. Come hear a detailed Real Cost Measure 2018 presentation specific to Santa Barbara County communities. Study co-author Henry Gascon, United Ways of California will share data important for countywide planning, grant-writing, designing public services, and enhancing education and workforce development. After the Santa Barbara County Real Cost Measure presentation, 5th District Supervisor Steve Lavagnino, Allan Hancock President/Supt. Kevin Walthers and others will discuss perspectives on impacts/implications, strategies and solutions to the issues brought up by the Real Cost Measure
