On June 24, 2021, The Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara (BCRC), an organization providing essential free support services for women and men facing breast cancer in the Santa Barbara community, announces the appointment of new Board President Frank Tabar. Tabar, who joined the BCRC Board in 2019, succeeds Rose Hodge, who has been with the organization for over a decade and will continue to serve as a board member and in an executive advisory capacity.
“It has been a great honor to have served as President of the BCRC Board,” said Hodge. “I’m incredibly proud of our accomplishments over the many years I have been with the BCRC. We have helped so many individuals facing breast cancer through an exceedingly difficult time in their lives. I’m confident in Frank’s leadership as the BCRC continues to grow and expand our impact in the future.”
Mr. Tabar joined Farmers and Merchants Trust Company in 2012 and currently holds the title of Senior Vice President and Strategic Risk and Operating Officer. Frank manages the Santa Barbara office of Farmers and Merchants Trust Company. Mr. Tabar has over 35 years of experience in financial services including positions with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust and Bank of the West, among others. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from US International University in San Diego, and a Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from National University, Los Angeles. Mr. Tabar has also served several years on the boards of Santa Barbara Symphony, Santa Barbara Family YMCA, and Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise. Currently, he also serves as a board member of Santa Barbara City College Foundation.
“BCRC has been a valuable and important resource in our community, for those dealing with breast cancer and their families, for over two decades. It is an honor to be part of this organization and its dedicated board members.” said Tabar. “My goal is to make sure everyone in our community is aware of the BCRC and its free resources, expand our services where needed; and increase our presence among local service providers.”
The BCRC is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1997. The BCRC is celebrating 24 years of providing vital and compassionate support to individuals facing breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, or breast health challenges. The BCRC is located at 55 Hitchcock Way, in Santa Barbara and is funded solely through its fundraising events and devoted donor base.
