An innovative and dynamic form of aesthetic hospitality, Crave: Art, Food, & Social Experience comprises a series of artist-orchestrated, themed events in collaboration with local chefs known for their distinctive culinary styles. From still-life paintings of Renaissance feasts to Rirkrit Tiravanija’s contemporary art performances involving Thai cuisine, artist have long used food to explore ideas and encourage engagement. Now more than ever, the politics of how and what we eat are ripe to be examined through the artistic lens.

San Luis Obispo-based artist Diana Puntar presents Crave: Deflowered & Devoured/Stigma & Style, kicking off the 2014 season of this one-night only Crave experience. The evening will include an exotic five-course meal featuring symbolic aphrodisiacs, such as basil, oysters, figs, and honey. An immersive art installation and a performance by artists Julie Tolentino and Stosh Fila Puntar create a one of a kind art and food event. Puntar will be working with local chef Edie Robertson to create the enticing menu for this unique evening.

With elements of sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell coming together to produce intimate exchanges between culinary and visual nourishment, Santa Barbara-based artist Penelope Gottlieb creates the second iteration of the 2014 Crave season with The Night the Forest Spoke. Gottlieb will produce an earthly delight with flora-inspired dishes and cocktails blended with her unique, artistic sensibility. Gottlieb will be working with head chef Justin West of Julienne to create a divine menu for this one night only experience.

Wine will be provided by our generous sponsor, Buttonwood Winery.
