Art From Scrap (AFS) in collaboration with Art Without Limits (AWoL) is presenting a gallery event highlighting the work of the Art Without Limits Emerging Artists. The event is a party, exhibit, and fundraiser known as The Coming Out Party. The opening reception on Saturday, January 23rd, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm is open to the public. The exhibition will be on view at the AFS Gallery until March 5, 2016. Original artwork will be for sale at the event.
The Coming Out Party, an integral part of the AWoL Mentorship Program, is an opportunity for Emerging Artists to present their artwork to the community. Visual and performance artists, poets, and writers will be showcased. Artists who have created educational outreach programs and dance productions will talk about their projects in a presentation during the opening on Saturday, January 23rd.
Exhibiting Artists include: Cecily Stewart, Satpreet Kahlon, Isaac Welsh, Sol Hill, Elite Henenson, Leanna Thompson, Ash Robinson, Dan La Bellarte, Derrick Curtis, Si Jie Loo, and Shauna Murphy.
The Art From Scrap Gallery, Creative Reuse Store, and Art Workshop are located at 302 East Cota Street in downtown Santa Barbara. Art From Scrap provides the Santa Barbara community with a source of affordable and sustainable art supplies, waste reduction environmental education, and workshops for children and adults. Art From Scrap Gallery Hours are Tuesday-Friday: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
In the Art Without Limits’ Mentorship Program, Emerging Artists, and Mentors work one-on-one for up to a year. Mentors volunteer their time. The Emerging Artists are not charged to participate in the program, however they are encouraged to give back to their Mentor, to AWoL, and to pass the gift of mentorship on to the next generation of artists.
