Beautycounter Founder and CEO Gregg Renfrew will speak at Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara’s 18th Annual Celebration Luncheon on Friday, September 27th, at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort. The event will also honor a fellow female entrepreneur – Women’s Economic Ventures (WEV) Founder and CEO Marsha Bailey – with the 2019 Strong, Smart, and Bold Award.

This year’s Celebration Luncheon theme, “The Path of Most Resistance: Effecting Change Through Perseverance,” honors the keynote speaker’s own path to founding Beautycounter in 2011 with the mission of getting safer personal care and beauty products into the hands of everyone. Under Gregg’s leadership, Beautycounter is contributing to the rise of a modern industry built by female entrepreneurs and advocates. Her push for strong cosmetic safety laws is providing more than 40,000 Beautycounter Independent Consultants – mostly women – with the opportunity to be business owners and activists.

As CEO of Beautycounter, Gregg is also dedicated to setting a new health and safety standard for the beauty industry. Rare among business leaders, she is an advocate for more federal regulation, tirelessly lobbying in Washington D.C. to pass a major federal law updating the laws governing the beauty industry that have stood largely unchanged since 1938.
Gregg established herself as a retail leader prior to launching Beautycounter. She sold her bridal registry company, The Wedding List, to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in 2001. She then led new-concept, brand, marketing, merchandising and operational consulting engagements with high-profile corporate and entertainment clients including Bergdorf Goodman, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, Intermix, Sugar Paper, Lela Rose and Jessica Alba. Gregg has been a featured speaker at Vanity Fair’s Founders Fair and Fortune’s Most Powerful Women NextGen Summit.
